Crickets vs roaches

Hi - I'm just wondering if my dragon is "normal." Recently, due to my paranoia for his health, we have brought in some Dubia roaches for Loouee. Just for him to try before investing in a bunch... Here's my question. Does anyone else have an ultra picky eater? As soon as those roaches were introduced, he refuses to eat the crickets. I mean the sideways WTF is this look and if you are thinking I'm touching those you have some issues... this morning that was all that was left in the feeding cage (we are supposed to be getting some in the mail today) and yup refused to eat! Also - he was going through 35-40 crickets and I was informed that roaches are the equivalent of 1 roach per 5 crickets.... yet the number of his intake has not decreased???

Heya, i think roaches are tastier* mine won't even sniff any other food when they knows they can have roaches instead! Im nit sure about the intake but mine personally are the same amount for a while then decreased, but I think I may have greedy beardies lol xx

Yep, I have to offer veggies before I even touch the roach container. He's a picky veggie eater to begin with, but if he thinks roaches might be an option, there's no way he'll eat veggies.

In fact, one time I opened the roach container and remembered he hadn't eaten veggies. So I closed it and got out the veggies. I offered him a leaf, and not only did he not eat it, he backed up and ducked his head away from me. Then he kept glancing toward the roaches.

It depends on the size of the roach. My roaches are the same size as the crickets, so he eats about the same number (actually a bit more because he likes them more). If the roaches are significantly bigger, he'll eat fewer. It's not about number but about total amount of food. Just like if you ate 4 mini-Snickers vs 1 regular Snicker.

Snickers = wax worms... big mistake starting those. Now any other worms get bit in half and spit out. Good to know on the roaches... I won't limit his intake then.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
