I am geting a BD verry soon and i would like to know what are the best feeders.

I've researched how to breed Crickets and i understand the concept. On the other hand are Dubias witch I know is a type of roach but am not sure how to breed or in this case start a "colony" Ive been a person to squash roaches and I would will really have to learn how to handle them.

I also would like to know which ones are healthier for BD's. How do you handle crickets and Dubias when you are going to feed them off do they bite ???.

Sebastian.

Being a convert here (used to feed crix) - they STINK and die off easily, plus they can be noisy when they get large enough and are cannibals! Roaches are a better feeder because they have more Meat to them than crix plus I think they are easier to breed.

I don't handle either of them though. I'm still waiting for my Dubia colony to grow before I can feed some to Angus. With that said, I'll probably put gloves on to snatch up some of the med. nymphs and place into shaker cup w/calcium powder. W/crix, I just tapped the egg crate into a small container and did the calcium powder and then fed in seperate bin. (I'll do the same seperate feeding w/roaches as well). I don't let live food hang around in his viv unless it stays in a bowl (worms).

I don't think they bite!

Breed dubia. All you do is put them in a bin, keep them warm, feed them....... and they'll breed. They don't bite and they don't jump all over the place when you try to pick them up.

Crickets stink, and they cannabalize their babies so it requires more attention and care on your part. Dubia actually breed better if you pay LESS attention to them. Just make sure they're fed and given water crystals, and leave them alone for a few weeks. If you bother them too much, they won't want to breed.

Roaches are so much easier! I used to be freaked out by dubias as well. But, they are so much more easier to breed than crickets. They have more meat like others have said. Trust me, or us I should say. Dubias ftw.

that smell in the bait shops, that is an aired out cricket smell. I found breeding crickets to be very difficult. I had cups with the stuff in it, then put them in a separate container after a while keeping them moist the whole time. Then after a few weeks you have what appears to be tiny ants running around and weeks later they were only the size of pinheads and wouldn't get out of the stupid cups so I could take those out. I was running out of room in the bin for more cups. I thought I could just dump the stuff in another bin carefully, but nope killed the crickets in it. Then I got busy for a few days and the stuff got dried out and all rest of the baby crickets died, then all my adults died of old age, so I gave up.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
