For those of you who order crickets online and note that they come DOA (Dead On Arrival)

... Please keep in mind that when crickets get cold, they go into a dormant state!

Try letting them heat up for a few hours... You'd be surprised how many "wake up"

If your beardie gets impatient with crickets (especially the striped tropic ones-- they are fast!)
try putting them in the fridge for 30 minutes, they will start to slow down A LOT making it super easy for your beardie to catch them! :mrgreen:

This is so true! This just happened to me 2 nights ago. I picked up 80 crickets from Petco. On my way home, I ran into the grocery store for about 20 minutes. Well... Problem is, I live in North Dakota and I forgot use my Astro-Start to keep my car running. When I came out of the grocery 20 minutes later and hopped in my car, not a single cricket was moving. :shock: Not even a twitch. I was so angry at myself, because I was sure that I had just killed them all. I brought them in the house, and set the bag of "dead" crickets on the counter. After I was finished putting my groceries away, the crickets slowly started moving again! I was a bit taken aback, but I was very happy that I didn't waste my money on 80 crickets!!

Dubia are the same way. They get sluggish when cold.

yeah we just got a shipment of them in from Carolina Crickets the other day.. we live in PA and it's cold.. I placed them in our homemade cricket keeper and alot of them weren't moving.. I thought they were dead.. I was gonna start digging them out but some of them twitched and such so I left them sit for abit and before long they were all jumping and crawling all over the place.. glad I didn't throw them away!
