Cricket Shipping

In ordering my crickets from Ghann's, I notice that they are disclaiming the live arrival guarantee due to heat. Now that's understandable, but I wonder if anyone has any feedback on how likely it will be they arrive alive using Next Day shipping? It's a warm time of year here in New England too, so I'm a bit concerned I'll end up with a box of dead crickets

I used next day shipping with Ghann's pretty recently. I ordered 1000 of the largest ones you could get, and about a hundred had died. I'm kind of wondering if I should think that is a generous amount because most of the topics I read about shipping crickets say something about how half the crickets died, etc. BUT I paid 35 freakin' bucks for next day arrival(accidentally, actually) and, well, that was not so good on the wallet. .__.

NO problems other than that(I run into all sorts of problems with other shippers) so I would definitely suggest them if you need crickets and such I also recommend Theroachguy for roaches, seeing as I have never run into a single problem with him.

My last 2 orders have been on extremely hot days and pretty much all were alive from Ghanns. The last couple weeks they backed off on the 1/2 inch and were only offering the smaller sizes so I ordered from pet store. Now they're offering the 1/2 inch again and I just placed an order. I'll let you know how tomorrow's order arrives.

I just got a shipment last Friday of 1500 (supposed to be 1/2 but there were a lot more smaller ones that that). I had a few arrive dead but not sure how many - considering how hot it was, it's still cheaper than getting them from the petstore. I think to go over than what you order as well knowing there's that possibility. Oh I get mine from ghanns as well.

I'm hoping this order will last because I want to start with roaches next.

Does anyone know of a cricket company that doesn't ship from the south? Crix-n-wiggles, Ghann's, and Flukers are all in that part of the country. It seems like one might not have these problems with a company in the northern part of the US, but I've yet to find one.

My Ghann's order came last week. I ordered the 1/2", but they were awfully small. Very few DOA that I could tell, though they all ran over to the water crystals when I put them in their bin. And that was on one of our 90 degree, 90% humidity days, next afternoon del. (Though I watched the tracking all night and they shipped/moved mostly overnight, which I suspect may have helped the temps.)

Got crickets yesterday - smaller than 1/2" which I ordered and some were dead. Majority were alive though. I'll be glad when they stock up on the bigger ones.

They came in on schedule overnight delivery but I would estimate a good 1/4 to 1/2 were dead. Gonna have to come up with an alternative for the crickets...
