So I just received another large order of crickets from an established supplier but one I never ordered from before. I had them in a 10 gallon tank, metal screen top, large egg crates, water pillows for water and commercial cricket feed but within 2 day's time 80% of my order were dead. I noticed most were on their backs (fairly normal) but many live ones were sluggish, appearing to have a difficult time moving. We haven't heard much noise from them at all and an order of same size lasted at least 3 weeks when I ordered from Flukers.

I am probably doing something wrong in this setup. Does anyone have ideas on what I may be doing wrong?

That same thing happened to us when we switched cricket-providers. Now we stick with Dubias, because they are soooo much easier to deal with. They don't stink, are more nutritious, are quiet, ect. Sounds like you just got a bad batch, though, just like us. Because we weren't doing anything wrong with care. Just be careful, because when that many crickets all die at once, they could contain parasites, so watch your beardies if you feed the live ones to them. We lost a baby and that's the only way I could think she would've died.

I would so much rather have dubias but since mom had a bad experience with roaches she is paranoid about them so they are banned in our home. He had a large supy of superworms but he really liked the chase of the crickets. Thankfully I had backup phoenix worms so at least they satisfy him for now. I am keeping an eye on the crickets for more fatalities. I'm sorry to hear about your baby.

Explain to her that even if they get out, they can't survive. Or is she paranoid about something else?

I have tried but she has a horrible experience with cock roaches when she was first on her own. According to her they covered the walls and no matter what she did they wouldn't die. She is simply paranoid that they might survive and run rampant in our house if even one gets out. She doesn't often listen to reason.

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
