Hi everyone! I'm very excited that Lizzy had snapped out of her lethargy and not eating. Everything has been going swimmingly UNTIL......

She did a 180 three days ago and began acting like a hyper loon lizard! I'm glad she's not lethargic don't get me wrong but aren't dragons laid back?

She's going spastic in her viv, so I've had her out three times a day running laps in the house. Under my watchful eye of course.. but where I've had to tickle her tail in the past to get her to move along... now I'm trying to keep up. She bolteddown my 30 foot hallway and around the corner like it was a race track! She's never ever done this! Poking around into closets, behind the couch. She's always been nosy, but this seems a more frantic pace for search or escape.

The temp in the viv, basking is 105, cool is 76 to 80. I keep the digital probe under the repticarpet and above the tile as the surface temp reads hotter. It's a spot lamp and there is enough space and altering heights where she is able to adjust her bask so I'm certain this isn't an issue. I have a duplicate bask area on my headboard with digital reading at surface and she gets equally hyper from that spot also. Or from shade, anywhere really lol. Her uvb is 2 month old reptisun tube. Tile, towel, repticarpet flooring. She has a fake picture of desert rocks she's desperately trying to climb and dig into now to the point I may take it down.

She's I think about a year old. Bought her as a tiny baby on 8.22.2016. I read somewhere she may have eggs so I placed a makeshift lay box in her viv. Put her in it. It seemed only to really stress her out and she hid in opposite corner.

So? Shall I just celebrate her exuberant return of energy I've never seen or???

Glad to hear she isn't lethargic anymore. She's almost an adult, but even they have energy like 5 year old children  . She'll melo out when she gets older, it's completely normal for her to run around and check everything out under supervision. Temps are fine, boost up the cool side to 83-85 degrees. If you want, close off an area, or put her in the bathroom to check some things out and release some energy and put her back in her viv.

She's likely just bursting with energy.
My 9mo old male runs around the house like he's late for a meeting and always wants out of the enclosure. He's just super curious and explorative. Making that a word.

She'll eventually settle down

That's her all right! Late for a beardie meeting of the utmost importance! Lol

It turns out she is not a fan of dirt or sand, at least right now. When I put her in for digging she got it on her and got rather annoyed she was dirty, I had never seen a dragon shake things off like a dog lol. First time she ever took any interest in her bath too lol!

She used to be a very fussy pooper tho, always in a certain place so it could be removed easily and quickly while she stood well away from it. Lately we call her "scat Lizzy" she's been smearing it! Ugh!

At her age and at this time of year (assuming you're in the northern hemisphere), she could also be going hormonal. If so, then the craziness won't last forever. But she wouldn't have so much energy if she wasn't healthy, so at least you can pat yourself on the back for taking good care of her :D and just try to keep a good grip on your own sanity until she settles down a bit...

Linus is doing the same thing. Running around the house like a madman. He's so hyperactive that he won't sit still for even a min.

Only difference between Linus and Lizzy is that Linus has no interest in food at all. He even ran away from his food as if he was scared of his favorite worms.

Is this normal spring fever as well?

How old is Lizzy? Linus is about a year and 4 months.

I haven't noticed that our beardie loses his appetite when he goes hormonal, but our snake sure does. Maybe some beardies do that too.

Does anyone else out there have a beardie that quits eating when they get "spring fever"? If so, my guess would be that the hunger strike wouldn't last long enough to be serious. Our snake has been known to go for up to around 3 months without eating while at the same time being hyperactive in the spring, but without losing a significant amount of weight (go figure), but he turns back into the carnivorous couch potato later in the season so I suppose it all evens out over the year.

Well Linus it's funny you say that, she had just gotten her appetite back but the last couple of days she hasnt seemed interested in her food at all. I keep her super worms in a critter container and I was all excited for a moment when I saw she was running toward it, until I watched her use it for a spring board to get to my head board and then slide off my pillows. Leaving sawdust all over my quilt!

Today I caught her standing in the middle of her roach feeding bowl.... not eating no, just allowing them to crawl on her then shake them off around her cage. I gave HER stink eye today ;D

I'm not sure if I posted this before.... due to the heat issues in my sons room I have to leave her cage doors slightly ajar for extra ventilation. This viv is not properly vented in my opinion. In any event. I left one too far open.....

LIZZY ESCAPED HER VIV!!! she actually left I couldn't believe it. Out the door, down the chair onto the bin to the floor. I called her name and she did come out from under the bed but she's never even wanted to leave her lovely palace before! Grrrr

They always seem to find ways to drive their human slaves crazy, don't they? :p

And BTW, if you try to get into a "stink eye" contest with your bearded dragon, you will probably lose.

Loving hearing about these adventures. I love how thoroughly they check out their 'territory' while in full on explore mode. No nook is safe!

Perhaps we should get Lizzy and Linus together for a play date, worse case scenario we end up visiting them in beardie prison ?

Yes I've discovered the stink eye competition is really useless lol she can out stink me any day haha

I'm happy she's active to be honest since so many months of lethargy but she spends more time out of her viv than in now. She would stay permanently on my headboard with her lamp and uvb I think if I let her. And last night she waited for me to come home to take her out after her lights out to go to bed lol. Not the same dragon! Think I have a pod dragon ;) haha

Here in Anchorage Alaska at this time of year, the sun comes up at 4:20 am and goes down at 11:40 pm. Happy Solstice! But sometimes it does make it a little difficult to get the beardie to settle down at bedtime. It's like "But mom, I don't want to go to sleep. The sun is still up!" But then he'll get tired and zone out in the middle of the day. That happens to us humans too, and we call it "midnight sunstroke".

They tend to be hard core diurnal, and usually fall asleep pretty quickly once the lights go out, so it's pretty impressive that yours waited up for you.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
