Couple of Questions

Hey,
I just have a few random questions...
1. I bought some crickets from Petsmart and about half of them have died. Not sure why. They have food (jelly stuff) and are inside so they are not getting too cold.
2. How do you know when the BD's nails are getting too long?
2.a. How do you cut them?
3. I thought Hero may have a lil impaction the other day cause he would not eat any phoenix worms (I had ran out of crix.) so while I was out getting more crix I went ahead and got some chicken and squash baby food and minteral oil. When I got home I tried the crix and he ate them so I think he was just bored with the PW. But since I had bought the baby food I was curious what he would think of it. So, I mixed it up and put it in a syringe and he LOVED IT!!! Like bit the tip trying to get more out. I know you are only supposed to use baby food for impaction but is it bad for them as a treat? I only gave him about 1 1/2 ML of it.
4. What is the best temp gun thing to buy?
5. What is the best calcium/vit supp to buy?

Did you buy the large or small ones? The large ones are at the end of their life cycle, so that could be why they died. Other possibilites are: not enough places to hide, the food dried out, they were over crowded, the cought a draft, etc. Your best bet (and value for the buck) is to order crickets onilne in bulk. Keep them in a ten gallon tank with tons of veggies and you'll be all set. You'll also have very minimal loss. Plus you wind up spending around 2 cents a cricket, rather than 9 or 10 cents. So it saves you money in the long run.
2. How do you know when the BD's nails are getting too long?
They will be very sharp and may even start to curl over. You can generally tell when they are getting to long though. If you dragon is "up on his nails" then they are probably too long.
2.a. How do you cut them?

You can use baby food as a treat. But keep in mind it is very high in protein. So you won't want to give him a lot of it.
4. What is the best temp gun thing to buy?
I believe it is made by Pro Exotics. Its small and black and very easy to use.
5. What is the best calcium/vit supp to buy?
The best calcium is RepCal Calcium (if you have a MVB, you need the type withOUT phos {green label}. If you have a tube UVB, you need the type with phos {pink label}.) For vitamins, Herptivite is made by the same company and comes with a blue label.
