Coughed Up Clear Liquid

My ten year old bearded dragon is on my lap right now and he just coughed up what looks like saliva but obviously I'm not sure. He seems completely fine, before and after, but I'm worried. He's coughed before, very infrequently and not enough for me to be concerned. He has no health issues either and no mucus build up anywhere. I got him from my teacher over winter break of last year and was told he'd probably not make it till we got back so I was allowed to keep him. Ever since then, he's been an active, healthy and delightful dragon. I'll go over my setup and post a picture of it.

40 gallon breeder, minimal decorations (he's lazy and I had a bunch of climbing branches in there for him at one point but took them out because he was just hiding all the time with them in there and seemed generally uncomfortable)
34'' Reptisun 10.00 in a T5HO 34" standard reflector
Temperatures are checked with an infrared heat gun
Exo Terra Intense Basking Light Bulb 100 watt in a dome light with the basking temperature ranging from 100-110 degrees Fahrenheit
The middle of his tank is 80-86 degrees Fahrenheit while the coldest part is 75 degrees Fahrenheit
Substrate is tile and bricks that I got from Home Depot around Christmas
Calcium dusted food for three meals, Herptivite for one meal
Usually eats superworms and dubia roaches, trying to get him to eat his vegetables with some success so far
Was feeding him everyday as much as he wanted, now will be feeding him 3-4 times a week with a cut off period (for bugs)

He's seventeen inches long and 511 grams, hasn't eaten and just went to the bathroom.
He has no water dish in with him and he gets soaked at least once a week.
I recently found out I was feeding him too often, as in every day, so for about a week I didn't feed him because he's also a little overweight (posting a picture of him too, correct me if I'm wrong) but I fed him superworms and mustard greens last night (he won't eat greens on their own yet, still working on it). He went to the bathroom today and it looked normal. He hasn't been acting any different aside from being a little irritable since he's shedding. His lights are on 12-14 hours a day.

The pictures of him on the rainbow pillow are ones that I just took, he's laying there as I'm typing this and the other two are from last month but I still wanted to include them so his face is visible even though the pictures are kind of bad. His enclosure isn't the most involved, I know, and it's a little messy in there since he's due for a cleaning on Friday. Sorry about the picture quality, the only lights in my room are his!

Sorry too for this giant post, I wanted to put as much information as I could think of so a potential answer can be formed. Any questions, please ask, I want to do my best in making sure Sunny is okay. Thanks.

He looks pretty good in the photos. No black beard or signs of distress. He looks a little overweight so it's good that you are cutting back on the bugs and offering more veges. That combined with some time out of the tank to run around should help in time. The tank looks good, nice UVB light and good heat gradient. The clear liquid is concerning but hopefully it was just a one time thing. Did he drink water or have a bath recently? Usually when I see something like this it's because they overdo it a bit drinking water and throw some back up. It's generally not a good sign but since he looks otherwise OK I'd just keep a close eye on him for now. If it continues I'd have a vet check him out but for now I'd give him time to bask and process everything in his system. Maybe keep his nighttime temps up a little higher than normal up to around 80 or so in case he's trying to fight something off.

He never drinks water and his last bath was sometime last week so I don't think that was it. How should I keep his temperature up? I don't have a ceramic heat emitter and wouldn't be able to get one unless I order it online and have it shipped here which isn't immediate. Could I place aluminum foil under the heat lamp so it only gives off heat without the light or is that too dangerous? What about a ceramic heater that's used for people near his tank? If he has any other symptoms/persistence, I will take him to the vet.

A space heater near the tank would do the trick if you don't have a CHE or heat projector available. I probably wouldn't try the foil for fear that the heat would build up around the fixture and cause damage (may or may not be a viable concern).

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
