Convincing parents to let me get a bearded dragon

So I've pretty much tried everything I can but, my dad won't let me get a bearded dragon. I can pay for the food and the actual pet but, the aquarium would be a birthday present. I wrote them a letter too and I did so much research but, every time I bring bearded dragons up my parents roll their eyes. I actually can't even bring it up in front of my dad. How do I convince them? Any tips? :(

What are the actual reasons you cant get one? Out of any reptile I would say Beardies are the easiest to take care of, especially for kids. Your parents probably have a reason for not letting you get one, so what is it?
Also dont get an aquarium, get a terrarium. Aquariums generally dont have the airflow reptiles need.

I don't know, as I say they won't talk to me about it. I guess they think that its just a phase and that they'll end up taking care of it. Which is not true because I would be paying for it. :?

How old are you? Not trying to be rude, but it is a phase for many kids. Since you have the foresight to do research, I doubt that is the case with you, but you never know. Maybe try writing up a contract with them, basically saying if you stop caring for the animal you will give it up for adoption or something on those lines.

Tell them what I told my landlord.
Bearded Dragons are small lizards that grow to a maximum of 2ft. They are clean animals that emit no odor themselves unless they defecate. They make no noise and only take up as much space as the tank does. They feed on mostly leafy green vegetables with some proteins like worms mixed in, which can be kept in the fridge.

Also try convincing them to go to a convention. There you can talk to breeders about the the dragons and maybe they will learn a thing or two. Dont give up, bother them enough so they know you are passionate about it.

I was in the same boat before. Show them all the research you did. After they have looked at what you researched tell them to ask you questions. If you can answer the questions they ask it is a good thing that will help everyone. It shows you know what you are getting into. Also what I did was show i was responsible by getting a different less maintense pet. My parents said if i dont loose interest and care for a freshwater aquarium i can get other pets. Now i have a beardie, freshwater aquruim, saltwater aquairuim, and hopefully a new baby beardie by next Christmas. :D
