The above link is a post from back in August when this eye problem started. Since then I have been bathing him about every other day and before every bath I put a few drops in his eye. Problem is its usually closed so they dont get in and when I tough it he shakes me off. Just recently I noticed the sking over the problem eye is a slightly different color. He's normally a nice yellow with some orange around the eye but now its kind of faded to a light pink. I tried to get some pics comparing the two sides and showing his eye which hasnt changed. Still a big pupil and not looking so hot. I'm guessing the damage is permanent since there hasnt been any improvement. Anyone else got an opinion? Thanks guys and gals.

Its the left eye if you look directly at him.

It does seen to have a different color! Looks as if their is a minor infection in their! He could of got it from the walnut shell or he could of scratched his eye! The best thing to do their is take him to the vet! They will prescribe medicated eye solution! Good luck just my 2cents!!

I agree with lance you do need to get him to a vet to see what the cause of the infection is and what steps can be taken to aid in curing it.

also as far as the discoloration it is possible that it could be a side effect of getting so much of whatever eye drop solution you are using directly on his eyelids (since you said his eye is normally closed when you do it)

Hi there,

I'd posted in your earlier thread about how we were treating an eye infection in another beardie but never got back to ya. It took almost 2 months but the eye looks normal now, aside from some pigment change. But everything in reptiles happens a bit slower than other critters, especially healing. :) The antibiotic drop we used was Ciprofloxacin which is not all that expensive and quite safe for reptiles. Did you end up correcting the lighting situation? Did that seem to help? Can he pinpoint his food items with both eyes or does he not seem to use the affected one at all? For putting in eyedrops sometimes coming from behind the head and from the opposite side with the dropper seems to help, they will often tilt the eye up to see what is coming and you can squeeze in a drop. What drops are you using now? Normal saline?

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
