Hi everyone, this is my first post on the site although i have been coming here for months to get my information, I wanted a most specific answer to my question this time.
I'll give a little background on my little girl Connie before i get to my question.
We got Connie when she was 2 months old back at the beginning of may 2015,as expected she was not wanting to eat very much, the first day she had about 10 crickets and that was it for days. She would maybe eat a cricket or 2 a days and then perhaps go 2 or 3 days without eating. I got roaches and hoppers then because i heard they are some of the best feeders out there and that beardies love them, It wasn't a success at first but she was at least having a couple every day.
Our feeding problems where fixed one weekend when i had to put her in boarding with the local reptile shop, when she came back she was a full time chomper, eating anything and everything (except greens :x ) Since then i thought a good staple diet would be roaches and cali worms with the occasional waxworm as a treat when i took her out to play. She goes through 50 0.5-1" roaches in 5-6 days, Digestion does not seem to be a problem as she poos every day in the exact same spot by the front of the viv (except the past 2 days when she has started to shed for the first time with me) she had a mushy poo which i put down to shedding and not parasites from what i have read.
So I will get onto my question now, which is regarding beardies becoming picky eaters especially when they have a staple of roaches. It costs me £10+ to buy 50 roaches so we are talking about £70 for the roaches alone in a month. So i decided my last purchase would be 25 roaches and 50 hoppers in the hope of reducing her feeding bill by a few quid a month, but the little rascal won't eat the hoppers for me now.
She had 1 yesterday but refuses to eat them now yet she snapped a roach out of my hand so she is defiantly hungry.
Has anyone got some advice for getting her to have both of these in her diet? she is almost 6 months so would that be too young to leave her a few days without food while only trying her with hoppers? Keep in mind she is starting to shed now.
