Hey guys,

my girlfriend and i noticed some discolored scales on Erik's snout recently. Is this shedding or something more serious?

20 gal viv, reptisun 10.0 tube, 105F basking, 75-80F cool side, eats crickets twice a day, calcium dusted 5 days a week, vitamins 2 days week. 20%ish humidity, sometimes more. Ears and nostrils clear and unblocked. He's also been acting very skiddish lately but i believe that is due to him hating his feeding bin. 1st two pics are earlier before we noticed the scales, the following four are him with the discolored scales right on the tip of his snout. please advise!

Looks to me like he's going to shed. They shed in stages not all at once. They turn a greyish color then will turn white in the places they will shed. You may even see a piece of skin popping in and out of his nose as he breathes and don't pull on it..they shed their nostrils and deep into the nostril. It will come out on its own. You may notice him rubbing his head or snout on anything as its itchy for them and this is how they get it off.

Definitely has to be shedding.
My dragon recently did this before his passing and it confused me as well. It went away after a shedding. :)

Poor baby, that has to itch him. I am waiting on Emmetts first shed since I have had him. I give them warm baths when mine are shedding and use a baby soft toothbrush to gently scrub their sheds to help get what is loose off. Never pick at a shed as that can damage the new scales underneath the shed, just to let you know. Hes adorable, shed and all!

Glad to know that he has started a shed. :)
A baby tooth brush, as mentioned by Tonja, is a good idea. I didn't do this except give him warm baths when my Pogi was shedding, but a soft bristled tooth brush helps with sheddings. Hope your little beardie grows big and strong. :D

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
