So today I learned a valuable lesson-

NEVER test to see if a ceramic heat emitter is working by touching the bulb... even if you *just* turned it on

a valuable(if not painful) lesson.

Blisters are starting to form... XP

... Apparently that means the one I had for my iguana way back in the day was TERRIBLE because I touched it fairly often. It get really hot after a while but not right after it was turned on. Then again that was almost 20 years ago... maybe the technology is better now. Thankfully I live in a place that's warm enough that I don't need one of those. In fact at times keeping it cool enough for him to sleep comfortably has been more an issue!

....yeah, and they stay hot too. I put a scorch mark on my brother's brand new wood floor after I turned the lamp off, let it cool for a minute, then put it down really quick to grab something. Oops

I haven't with a CHE but about 6 months ago I was fiddling with something in Sarth's crossfire viv and touched my inner arm on his 50w halogen bulb that I use for his heat light. THAT left a nice burn >.<
