Hey guys, I'm pretty new to beardies, I've had my girl for about 2 months (and due to bad heating and lighting she is yet to shed, but that's all corrected now!)
I was wondering, how do I know what kinda colour will my beardie look like? I don't know how old she is or what her parents looked like as the private seller "can't remember". How do I know? What will she turn out like?

This is my little girl, and other pictures can be provided if they'll help (I have tons  )

So how do I know what she's gona look like? She hasn't shed in 2 months and I'd have thought those sheds would have brought out a slightly lighter beardie, but I'm completely unknowing in what morphs and such.

Also, just me, or does her tail look like it may be about to shed? :blob5:

Thanks guys.

Some colors get more defined while others fade. It's hard to tell. My oldest has been getting really light.. and then i have a het hypo who has been getting a ton more orange as she sheds.

You can tell when they are about to shed when the area looks really light and dull. My little one just shed and it looked like she was wearing a light jacket for about a week. :p

Your beardie is beautiful! She's very cute too. She's got a very cute face!

From the picture, I'd just say she's a normal morph. But don't worry, normal beardies are just as awesome as morphed beardies! I have two "normals" myself. Hey, we don't need any pretty beardies. Our normals are just as good as any fancy beardies, right?!

I also would recommend that you get rid of that sand for your pretty little girl. Sand has been a contributor to impaction in countless cases and it's just better for them to live without the sand. You can replace the sand with newspaper, tile, paper towels, repti carpet, etc. Try to stay away from any particle substrates to limit your chances of impaction!

She is a real cutie! I personally think her colors will lighten up when she sheds. My Fiz (Who is a normal morph like her) used to be really dark when I got him with subtle orange hightlights down his back in two parallel ridges. Well now he's a lighter brown with bursts of reddish orange everywhere, on his arms, head, neck, face, back, tail, etc. If she has any orange/red on her now, she'll probably gain some more of those colors throughout her body.

Good luck with her, she seems like such a sweetie!

Sorry I didn't mention this. This photo was used in my Photogrpahy course!! I keep her on repti carpet, and the aim of my photoshoot was to place her in a desert environment! I wouldn't ever put my little girl on sand, I need to keep her safe!

Okay thank you very much, I was not aware atall that there was a 'Normal' morph, as I've only read about fancy ones haha!
Yeah I love her just the samea s I would a morphed dragon! She has quite a bit of yellowish on her after I put her in the bath, and her lips are always yellow too, maybe she'll turn our really bright
She's the complete opposite at the moment haha!

Thanks guys.

I dont want to come across as rude/hijacking your post but, you mentioned that she has not shed for 2 months? How old is she and how much is she eating daily? She looks young in the photographs - I would have expected her to have had at least 1 shed in that time.

Thanks for your concern Miss T.
I know I know, it sounds terrible right? I've been correcting her set-up for the past 2 weeks with Tracie and Barbara's help, and yesterday I finally achieved everything :) Her viv was too hot, and she tried to escape the heat by sitting in the corner of her viv all day long, and thus refused to eat and she wasn't getting access to her UVB light; which was also wrong, but I now have the ReptiSUN 10.0.

I don't know her age, the guy I got her from 'forgot'. When I got her about 2 months ago, she was 7-8inches long, and now she's 9 and 1/2 inches long, somehow without any shedding. However! It looks like the last 2 days of perfect set up has done her the world of good, and her tail looks like it may be getting ready to shed, am I right?

Due to terrible heating, her eating routine has been way out the past month, and has obviously had a massive effect on her growth and weight. However, now I feed her 2 times a day, and today she had about 40 total, before she wanted to sleep at about 4PM haha. A lot better than 0-6 a day she was getting forced to eat a few weeks ago.

What are your thoughts Miss T?

She is beautiful. And as you make the corrections, she should start to shed. Her tail does look a little white-ish so perhaps the shedding will start. As we are all always learning here, it sounds like you love your baby and are on the right track. My girl went through a period where she seemed to always be shedding somewhere to total sheds to tail shedding. She has not had a shed in a while. Do they always shed? or do they stop at a certain age? I am embarrased to admit I don't know. She is just a cutie pie!!! Enjoy her as they are such fun to own. even though I constantly worry I am doing something wrong! lol

I'm sorry-I missed the bit about lighting and heating... My bad!
It does look like her tail may shed soon :) and she is def eating like a piggy now :) when I first got Travis he polished off around 75 - 100 crickets/roaches per day!!! Madness! But 40 is def a good number :) He sheds non-stop but he had a brilliant start to life!
I'm sure she will do just fine now that you have everything sorted-it's amazing the difference good lighting can make! You have 2 amazing mentors in Barbara and Tracie :)
Mistygyrl, they don't shed as often when they are fully grown ;)

Haha we are opposites right now- I got Travis in November and I could count on 1 hand the number of days where some part of his body hasn't been shedding lol! I want him to take a break. But then I want him to keep growing lol!

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
