I just bought coco soft bedding to use instead of calcisand. Is it safe? :? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also, Tracie, you never seem to talk about your beardie. Do you have any pictures? At least some information? :?
I would say that’s better than calcium sand; however it still poses an impaction risk. Also, that stuff tends to hold too much humidity for bearded dragons, so make sure it’s dry before putting your beardy back in the tank.
While it may seem counter intuitive, newspaper or paper towels make a good substrate. They are safe, cheap, and easy to clean (throw out the spoiled, lay new piece down). That said, stone tiles and textured ceramic tiles also work great. I personally use slate tiles.
I would agree with Bad, that substrate would indeed hold moisture, and worse, the bacteria from your dragons' waste, so go with the tried and true, paper towels, slate, non adhesive shelf liner, newspaper.

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
