Hello we were wanting to find out what could possibly be wrong with our little Clyde. He is stressing hardcore; whenever we walk into the room he is in the same spot and is super dark in color with stress marks all over his underbelly. We take him out of his cage and hold him bath him and after about ten minutes he is lightened up on color. He is always alert even when stressed and active. We thought it might be compaction but our little beardie has been pooping a lot. Any Ideas on how to solve this?? oh and we just moved into a new home not sure if that has anything to do with it since he is in the same tank as before and it has been a week now since we moved. After a bath as soon as we wrap him up in his towel he goes right to sleep and no longer has stress marks. Any help on this problem would be appreciated.

You have been on here long enough now, you should know the information we are going to ask for.....

What size enclosure do you have your dragon in?
What type substrate do you have on the bottom of your tank?
Do you use UVB lights?
If so, Is it a coil, compact, fluorescent tube, or Mercury Vapor bulb?
What is the brand name and number of your bulb? Wattage (if MVB)?
How old is your UVB bulb?
How close can your dragon get to the UVB?
Do you use a separate basking bulb? What kind and what is the wattage? Is it a white or colored bulb?
What are the basking temps?
What is the cool side temp?
Do you take the temps with a stick on thermometer, a digital thermometer with a wire and a probe end or a temp gun?
Have you gotten a vet check and fecal done?

Yes, it is entirely possible that he has a bad case of relocation stress. Even though he's in the same tank he looks out and the rest of his world is new and strange....so that's probably what the problem is. Of course it is always good to give a rundown of your setup as Mediabandit mentioned. Oh, and is he still eating ? Hopefully it will be a phase that will soon pass and the little dude will be feeling his old self. :)

yes he is still eating and sorry for not giving the info last night I was tired.

Tank= 20g

White 100w basking, red 100w basking, substrate is repticarpet, eats both greens and crickets/mealworm pupa, temps are red with a digital with probe. Temps stay between 100 to 110 basking side, 75-85 cool side.

We are doing everything the same with this one as we did with our Bonnie but he just dosn't seem to be eating near enough and is stressing now.. and no we have not taken him to vet.. that will be a last resort our vets know less about reptiles then us so we think it could be a waste of money.. If we need to do a fecal test I can buy some online and do myself.

My Dojo freaked out for about a week over his new home. It's a big change for a beardie, coming from a tank with no decorations, no UVB, and the tank is a big as he is, I had to rescue him from that horrid place. He'll adjust, takes time, and try not to change the tank right after introducing him to the current set up, nothing drastic for a few months.

It definitely sounds like relocation stress then, the temps are all good and he is still eating. Like AHBD said, even though his interior is about the same what he views on the outside is different. Take him out and let him explore a little and that may make him feel more secure, he will know what is out in his nice new world. Some Beardies do not take change well but will get used to it after time. Keep us updated on how the little guy is doing and I hope he comes around soon for you.
Also, how big is he now? Will soon be time to upgrade the size of his enclosure, but it would be good to wait until he is all settled in and stress free before making him go through those type of changes again.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
