ok, so i rescued a female beardie about 2-3 weeks ago who is really under weight and while i am waiting to get her into the vet i am giving her reptaboost (my vet suggested it, similar to Critical Care) suplementation with 3 -4 superworms per day. I am worried because when she goes to eat the reptaboost i am hearing a clicking sound when she eats, i don't hear it when she breaths, any ideas of what could be going on?
Background:
less than one year old (the guy i got her from said he got her from someone else and that she was possibly 11 months old maximum)
Size: approximately 14-15 inches in length
Enclosure: the guy i got her from said it was a male and that he let it run around with other males loose in the house all day, only put i
n cage at night so i am assuming no uv or heat and that she didn't get to the right basking temps.
Feeding: he fed mostly dubias, hardly any veggies then in same breath told me that she hated the dubias.
What i have her at now:
Baths - one bath every other day (trying to bump it up but having a hard time as we are in the process of finnishing our move) about 15 - 20 min. per day
Poops - has only had 2 poops since i got her, both dirrahea, not seeing any blood though
Feeding - 3 cc of reptaboost/day tried to offer crickets wasn't interested, likes superworms but i am limiting them to 3-4 per day. i offer her pellets and she will eat a few but not many, also offering a veggie salad, (i take the beautiful dragons list with me when i go shopping) this week it is mustard greens, sweet potatoe, bell peppers and Mangos
Enclosure: currently in a 20 long, vet worried about her exerting too much energy
Lighting - brand new uvb bulb 24" tube 10.0 (forgot the brand)streaching the length of the tank, as well as a day lamp (just a 60 watt flood light bulb that helps the temps get correct)
Basking Temp - 102 degrees on the hot side, she is always basking when i see her. we also go outside in a large rubbermaid tub to get some natural light (she has her own tub so she can't spread anything to anyone)
Substrate - shelf liner easy to clean - cushy one with no holes in it so she can't get nails caught
Weight - have not been able to get a weight on her yet, going to call my vet and see if i can go into the clinic just to get a weight on her since my vet is out of town at the current moment.
Any other questions about her eating please ask, this girl is a fighter and i don't want her dying before my vet gets back in town!
Also the clicking is only as she opens and closes her mouth...
very cautious and worried mommy!!!
