Clear Plastic Cover on Fluorescent Light Fixture - Question

I bought a Zilla Slimeline Desert Fixture. I know better than to set it on top of a screen or on glass because it cuts out the UVB. However, it came with a clear plastic cover over the light itself... Should I remove this? Or is it fine? I will provide pics if need be later, I've got to run to work now. Thank you in advance!!

I have the same one. Everyone here is going to tell you to get ride of it and got to a rept sun 10.0 lol

I have mine on but after going to the vet today I am thinking about taking it off. I know UVB can't go through glass so I would assume plastic too. But why would the company put it in plastic if it wouldn't go through i think to myself.... I am not sure. Right now mine is sitting on top of the wire top. I have to figure out a way to mount it inside.....

I used wire to hold mine to the top of the screen.

The wire that is the length of the fixture - I actually wrapped it around the wire that goes around the width of the fixture when I got to that point to help it stay in place better.

I would remove the plastic but thats just Me.

very little uvb can penetrate plastic. definitely take it off.

Just a heads up there are 2 screws you have to get from the top of the fixture. I broke mine lol.... Good thing it was coming off lol
