yeah thats pretty much the same problem that i had, at first i glued them all together, then i realized that it is almost impossible to get them all out. So i ended up pulling apart all of the crates and yeah. It was sort of defeating to spend all that time gluing them together, only to take them all apart. I have to admit this is a far better idea and makes things alot easier since you can pull one out, and put it back into place without disturbing things all to badly.

thanks for posting the original idea digger!!!!!

i can't wait, about another month and ill be buried in roaches! im sure my gf will love it!

Awesome pics! Stupid question, but are those Dubias? I thought they didnt climb

Oh yeah.... The little ones do a great job of climbing since they are so tiny and light. But they only do it when they are disturbed, and if they don't run for cover. I have thousands upon thousands of babies and I haven't had one escape yet. They get so far up and just fall off. It's pretty odd but nothing to worry about.

And BTW... NO, Blaptica Dubia will not and cannot infest your house if you live in the U.S. The only exceptions seem to be in certain parts of Florida and Hawaii. Other than that they will die off if they don't have water, a food source and most importantly a constant temp above 70 degrees.

They also need high humidity, i actually found a dead adult male in my bathroom one morning. . . it was kinda strange and weird in a sense, a part of me was hoping it was my roaches and not one that would infest the house.

also whoever originally posted this idea is a freaken genius!!! it made it so much easier to stack the egg crates without them falling inside of each other etc.
GUILTY as charged
I saw that and thought " I don't remember having egg flats like that and when did I take that pic"
I tried gluing some flats together at first and didnt really like that as well.
glad to see that I helped :D

Hey digger, where's the original post of this idea? Right now I glue mine together.

all they are, are strips of cardboard that are hot glued to the egg crates. this lets them slide against each other without falling inside of each other. its nothing really special or to involved, just a great bit of thinking on diggers part!

They don't need as high humidity as other species of roach. As long as you keep the humidity above 40% they seem to molt just fine. The only reason I don't like to keep my humidity too high is so that there isn't any chance of mold or mildew developing inside the tubs. I see quite a few people who mist their tubs which I would not recommend.

To raise humidity all you have to do is get the heat up above 80 degrees, have a full dish of water crystals available at all times and nature should put you right around 40-50% humidity. As long as you keep the temps constant and have a full dish of crystals your humidity shouldn't move.

That's all I do as well. I keep my temps up around the 85 mark and the dish is always full of cyrstals. My colony has taken off big time and I'll be splitting them into a second tote soon too.

i use a dog waterer, it makes life easier and i dont have to really check on them untill the water is almost gone, at which point its time to do a tiny cleaning. This way i disturb my colony less

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
