Ok so first off no I'm not going to be a complete retard and open my house and ask for all the fumes to come into my house. but my question is with me going in and out of the house of course some of the fumes will be coming in. Now I know for humans as long as the air is well circulated it will be fine. Also I'm going to be running a fan in the room that he is in to keep the air circulating but my question is could the fumes end up causing him harm?

Where are you located? What town? I am in Houma and we can smell the oil, but all the reports are that the fumes at this point are not significant to cause respiratory issues.

I wouldn't worry about it unless you are in Lower Plaquemines or Lower St. Bernard Parishes....and even then, it is just now hitting the marsh grass. Let me know where you are at.

I wouldn't worry too much, we have been able to smell it for days. It would have to be much stronger to affect your beardie.

Keep in touch, and let me know how things go there!

It isn't bad yet, we are all just waiting.....

You aren't going to be in the thick of it. New Orleans / Jefferson is not right in the coast. I am in Terrebonne Parish and we have a lot of marsh, fishing, etc... SO if it comes this way, we will have some big problems. But most of it will be in the marsh. The oil will kill the marsh, the oysters, nursery areas for fish and shrimp, but on solid land, probably not bad enough to cause people to get sick.

But no marsh means no fisheries, shrimping, crabbing, oysters, fishing tourism and sport fishing and our economy is going to be in the crapper.

You and I need to meet up at the June, New Orleans reptile show! If you need anything email me [email protected]

I am deffinately planning to attend the show in June already told the wife that is on our calendar lol.

It is ashamed what it will do to the coast. Just another case of a large corporation and the government dropping the ball again.

The only problem this will cause people on land are the ones who aren't going to believe that this is toxic stuff and that are going to go down to the beach and want to see what it looks like.....

I just went through some Hazcom traning and I'm supposed to be going through some Hazmat training at some point. This stuff can get bad so its for sure best to stay away from it

I am on the northshore of Lake Pontchartrain - and we were smelling the fumes at the end of last week, but not any more - I think that was when they were doing the burning. Although I heard on the news that eventually oil could end up in the lake - which could mean issues for us and the southshore. It is terrible, not just for all the wildlife, but also all the people whose lives and jobs depend on the water.

On a better note, I did not know until reading this thread that there was a reptile show in New Orleans in June! I will definitely be there. :)

Its nice that there seem to be at least a few members that will be near where I am at in NOLA lol. Over here in Jacksonville the reptile industry is very "isolated" only other big hobbyist I have around is a breeder of Giants (Tics, condas, and large varanids).

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
