I may be getting a bearded dragon soon and I wanted to know if a mix of sand and clay would work as a good substrate? It would be able to retain its shape and allow burrowing, but would also not be too loose that the bearded dragon would invest it. I'm thinking it may form like "excavator clay" and would be a cheaper alternative. I would also add in some dirt so that the clay/sand mix would have at least enough moisture (but not too much" to facilitate digging and maybe even plant growth within the tank. What do you think of this idea?
