So test the temp like you would do for a baby's bottle. How often do you do that with them in the water? What if they aren't tame yet or they are skiddish still?

Yes! Exactly like testing a babies bottle warmth! Always introduce your baby beardie to a small area to bathe in. You don't want him to be overwhelmed. I use small tupper ware containers for my babies and when they're about 8 inches or so and used to their baths I let them bathe in larger sterelite tubs. It's ok to let the water get cold as your beardie bathes. When it starts getting cold this usually indicates that it's time to dry off and go back to his home! :)

If you introduce your beardie to his bath and he's tries to run away and is very frightened and won't calm down take him back to his enclosure and you can use a small water dropper to drip water on him while he basks. You can also drip some water on his mouth to see if he'll drink from the dropper! :)

Very cool! So if I'm worried about him getting away I could just put a tupperware in the tub with the warm water and try to let him walk around in about 1/4 of an inch of water and just kinda pet his back with a wet finger? do they seem to like water? Or is it like trying to bathe a cat? lol Mine is less then 7 inches long so should I wait till its a it older?

Yes that's a good idea with the whole tupper ware/bath tub thing. Most dragons usually LOVE the water. But it's hard to tell until you bathe your dragons for the first time. 7 inches is plenty big enough to bathe him. Just make sure that he isn't overwhelmed! Some dragons will play in their water while some dragons will sit there looking kinda shocked. If he starts trying to run away just take him out. I'd say 1/2 inch of water would be best. Sometimes they'll drink so don't be alarmed if he dips his nose in to the water. Just make sure his whole head doesn't submerge. Some people put a small moist hand towel in their bathing tubs so the dragon can crawl out when he's done or just hold on to the side of it to make him feel more secure. Paper towels work as well just make sure they can't get trapped under them while playing.

Oh be sure to take pictures of his first bath for us! Haha :)

Well I didn't get to bathe my little guy yet, BUT after I turned out his lights, I went to read and when I came back to check on him before I went to bed, guess what I found? He was giving HIMSELF his own bath! Guess he likes the water! I was afraid he'd drown cuz he was almost like sleeping in it! I couldn't even tell if his head was out of the water at one point. And being a "new mommy" here I decided to take him out of the water just to be safe. But I do think he likes it and hopefully he decides to have another swim today!

That's awesome that he likes taking baths in his water haha! Sometimes my dragons will jump in their water dish when they're shedding or close to shedding to soak.

Got some updated pics today plus a new addition to the family! Our hypotrans Chomp is growing like a weed! She's grown about and inch and she's getting chubby! :D And her face is turning purple and blue! :D

(Last three pics were from when I woke them up this morning. They had their cold colors on.)

Hahaha! Yeah leaving a small water dish in the tank at all times is ok. Like I said, my dragons soak when they're about to shed. Maybe your baby boy/girl is gonna shed soon! :)

Wow, another baby? You are so lucky! :love5:
Keeping a water bowl in the tank all the time is ok as long as the humidity is at 40% or less. Bearded dragons are used to dry climates. If the humidity gets too high, they can easily come down with a respiratory infection and those are a pain to deal with, but can easily be avoided. Just wanted to inform ya if you didn't know!

I am very lucky...it helps to have a patient boyfriend too! Haha. And thanks for adding that! Forgot to mention that you'll want to keep the water dish away from the basking spot or off of any under tank heaters. It will cause too much humidity and like Sadona stated, it can harm your beardies lungs. :( I keep my beardies water dish on the cool side that way when they're done basking and want to cool off they can go to the cool side and enjoy a nice cool drink. 8)

Ok I'll move it far away cuz I'm struggling with humidity. A room dehumidifier won't work cuz its too big of an area but lately its been sooooooo humid here cuz of our weather. Even with the windows closed and AC on all the time...well its Texas! And its been raining for 3 days straight. YUCK! I'll get the water dish as far away from the basking area as possible!

Hehe it's raining here too. It's supposed to clear up though so I'm happy! Our savannah monitors have been waiting to go on strolls around the back yard!

Let us know if there's any other questions we can answer! :)

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
