My first dragon is finally here! His name is Chino, short for Mochachino, because he's pretty hyperactive and he has some dark coffee bean brown patches on his back. He also has bright red striping behind his ears and coffee brown streaking behind his eyes. He is two months old today and roughly 7 inches long. His daddy was a lemon-citrus and his mommy was a red flame-foxfire red-red tiger-cawley red. He's very pastel right now but after seeing his parents I'm sure his color will develope well. I'm calling it a he because from what I can tell now he seems to have male organs, but he is still very young. If he turns out to be a she, her name will be China (Cheena).
I don't think he knows what to think of me yet. He's been with me for a little over a day now, so he's been here overnight. I got him out this morning because I knew he would be cold and I could heat him up just by holding him. He seemed to really enjoy it, but kept looking at me as if I might eat him. Last night, when I put him back in his tank, left the room and came back, he had his belly up against the glass and he was looking at me like he wanted back out.
He's already demolished a bunch of small crickets, a couple tidbits of collards, and a tiny piece of a carrot and pooped a coulple of times. Fortunately, he hasn't gone in my hand... yet. I gave Chino a bath yesterday, too, but he didn't seem to enjoy it much. I did get him to drink some by dripping it on his nose while he was in it.
Here's Chino's first night home. My boyfriend is holding the little guy in his huge hand.
He demolished some little crickets.
Here he is in his home on top of the penthouse. Chino terrified his new mommy by running around on the background. >.< I was afraid he'd fall so I took it out. Here's before and after. And yes, I made the background and penthouse myself, which was an experience in and of itself.
Sleepy dragon after an exciting day in a new home.
Chino hanging out on the penthouse this morning.
