Chemo and reptiles

I hope I never need to use the advice that I am asking for. I received bad results on a mammogram, two lumps to be exact, and have to go for a biopsy. What they looked like both on mammorgram, and ultrasound, scared me to death.

If I do have, you know, and have to have Chemo, how will it affect me handling my lizards? I know that the chemicals leach out in the sweat, so I'm wondering if anyone else has any information about how to take care of them if I have to have these treatments.

I know that pre-planning may be all for nothing, and I hope it is, but If i get bad news, I want to already have a plan in place.

I already know that I have to take them in to be tested and treated for salmonella if they have it.

I just want to know if I will be a danger to my babies.

I am so sorry to here about this. It is not an easy thing to go through. My youngest son 33yo is going through his third round in 10 years for brain cancer. It has been an uphill battle for him and us.
Hopefully it will turn out well for, I wish you the best.
As far as having an effect on our dragon, he doesn't handle her for fear of catching something from her. His immune system is not strong enough to fight off much.

bummer .... my wife had a similar outcome a few years ago, fortunately her biopsy showed it was NOT CANCER.

You might need to ware gloves if you need chemo and the chemicals tend to leach through the skin, though I expect the concentrations on the skin will be so dilute that it's not a problem (???).

Sorry to hear that you may be facing cancer, hopefully it will not be the diagnosis. If ii is, remember that many women do very well with treatment.

I don't think you have anything to worry about as far as making your dragon sick at all, you'd probably have to sweat profusely while holding the dragon for hours. Their skin + scales are a barrier to moisture to an extent, so don't worry at all. It would be different with an ampibian like afrog whose skin is super sensitive to chemicals.

Just be careful for yourself getting sick from the dragon if you do need treatment and your immune system is down. Even then in most cases it would be O.K. just practice scrupulous hygiene and you'll probably be fine.

Thank you, you have no idea how much your replies has eased my mind about this. I REALLY hope that all is well, but like I said, I would rather plan to much than not plan at all. I am already trying to teach my husband how to take care of Linus and Onyx in case I get to sick some days to attend to their daily needs.

Thank you again

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
