Changed lighting

I made a post recently in the "behavior" section about my new beardie hiding all the time. About 45 minutes ago I decided to remove the 150w basking spot I had with a 100w household bulb. 30 minutes after doing this my 5 month old beardie became 100% more active. He has not hid in the last 30 minutes. He is busy exploring everything in his enclosure, eating crickets well, just an amazing overall difference. What a change. Wow. Has anyone else experienced this?

what were your temps at with the 150? and with the 100?

They haven't really changed. Right now 102 at basking spot, 96 on floor below basking spot. Maybe a 1-2 degree difference.

What size tank were you using the 150 watt bulb in and what type of thermometer are you using? Sounds like he was getting too hot. Would be a good idea to give him a bath the next couple of days in case he got a little dehydrated.

My enclosure is 36x16x16. I am using digital thermometers with the wired probe. He may have been getting to hot. I know I was having a hard time regulating the temps with the 150w.

Wow, you were using a 150 watt bulb in that small of a tank? That's smaller than a 40 gallon breeder and I'm only using a 60 watt that is 10" from his basking spot and a 25 watt on the cool side to give temps of about 102 and 80. When you tested the basking spot with your probe thermometer, did you place the probe right on the basking log or rock and wait about 45 min for the temp to stop rising before getting the final reading? What is the basking and cool side temp now?
