We purchased a 3-4 month old beardie Feb. 5. My son named him Abe, as in Abe Lincoln. Since they both have beards. Anyway, getting to the point...
He has been eating a variety of greens and has been eating @ 24 crickets a day lately. He has had a few roaches, and we started a small colony last weekend (fingers crossed on a rapid growth). The problem is this, I got back from church today, and as I walked in the room he ran wildly around the tank flaring his beard at me. As I reached in to feed him, he hissed and flared some more. Yesterday afternoon, he heartily ate 11 crickets and was a "normal" day. So, I'm not sure what gives.
The only thing I can think of that may have disturbed him was last night I noticed a few crickets hiding in his log. I shook the log, @ 24 crickets & a roach fell out. (I didn't realize there were that many hiding spots in the log!) I did the same this this morning before church.
It is just very odd behavior, because he has been a very pleasant beardie, so far. This is our first beardie, and my son and I have been trolling this site as well as many others to research tips and care info before and after our purchase, but this has me worried. I plan on leaving things alone for a brief stint.
