ceramic light dome? do you have to have one?

i have a ceramic light dome for my basking light. but i also just have a little walmart light dome that isn't ceramic can i still use a 100watt bulb on there? i just want to use it for little basking spot outside of the cage

Probably, as long as the fixture is rated to handle at least that wattage. Just keep a close eye on the temperature of the base as you don't want it to melt. Probably not a big concern for a portable light that isn't in use constantly.
