Ceramic Heat Emitters and other heating questions

Winter is coming around which means cold cold weather over here in the east. I need to keep Lucy's temp in her tank up. I'm thinking a ceramic heat emitter. I had a red bulb and she HATED it and couldn't sleep. I would rather spend $40 at petco for a lamp and bulb. I was thinking about getting the lamp at lowe's or online, but what about the bulb?
Are there any other ways I can get the temp up? She sleeps on her log every night and is on it all day. She won't sleep anywhere else unless I move her, and she gets grumpy when I do.

I live in the East as well, and a Ceramic Heat Emitter is always a great idea, especially when the temperatures drop so low at night. During the day I use a Halogen Flood bulb that I bought at Lowes(Or Home Depot) and it came in a 2 pack which was cheaper than even one light at petsmart or petco. I also suggest buying a light with a dimmer switch on it, because some days the temperature can vary(at least with me) because the sun sometimes shines right in my apartment which makes it hotter, and therefore I need to turn the light down a bit. It gets colder in my apartment because I have a draft in my patio door, so if a dimmer light is not enough, than adding a CHE would definitely help!
