Cant tell if stress from power out or infertile egg issues?

Okay so I live in PA and we just got slammed with an ice storm and I didn't have power for about 5 days, I kept my beardie in a smaller tank for travel reasons while we stayed at different people's homes every night. MY beardie did eat super worms during this time and went the bathroom but wasnt very active...

Now that we are home, my beardie went the bathroom twice, once normal, then a tiny bit after that.

Afterwards was glass dancing like crazy, but not digging, just wanted to get out! once I let him/her* out was just pacing my room looking around.

After letting him/her* lol run around for a bit he is just chilling under his log now like nothing happened.

IS this a burst of energy or that weird infertile egg thing if he's a girl?(s)he is fat.. but has always been a chunk, and I dont feel anything like eggs or anything.

Also my beardie is spoiled and will RARELY eat his salad but will never pass up super's. I've read bearded dragons about to lay eggs eat alot.

Should I still make a lay box thing, or do you think its just energy that was racked up this past few days? Im just worried because Ive never seen him/her like freak out to come out of the tank like this, but he wasnt doing it this past few days just the second he was in his old tank again! blah!

Hi there....it's probably the stress from the past week of being moved around. But you really should get the dragon sexed, then you can put your mind at ease. Can you post a pic with the tail arched up high [ take a few, from straight on + slightly from angles ] If it IS a female, it wouldn't hurt to have a lay box ready. Instructions for doing so can be found in the breeding section, top of the page.

Okay! I have a 20 gallon tank with a mesh lid I can put a light one and some of that coco fiber soil eco earth stuff and walnut sand if I make that wet with some bottled water would that be good enough? we are having crazy weather and I really dont want to drive anymore than I have to!!

Good job, excellent pics ! She is a she, and very beautiful. The 20 gal. tank idea is fine, just pile it up high on one side, start a tunnel with your hand and keep a lid on. When she's really ready to lay [ if she's actually gravid ] she will most likely stop eating for a day or so before, but some dragons eat right up to the day of laying. By the way, now is the time to cut back on live food and do the tough love....salads should be offered and only a few bugs daily. That way she won't become too fat.

okay, so do you think that this behavior was due to crazy schedule changes? or because of that infertile egg thing?

I just dont want that "egg bound" thing to happen, Im a worry wart and I put my dog down so lizzie is all I have left! :'(

also, I do tough love and lizzie will hold out for DAYS without eating salad until she. . . gets bugs!! sometimes she will eat some.

what are common times beardies, that arent bred, lay eggs? so I know when to expect it. Do they always? Lizzie is almost two years old!

how would I know there is trouble?

They mostly lay in the spring BUT....can lay any time of the year. Don't get stressed, just keep up her calcium intake and keep a lay box ready. They may dig + fuss for a long time, that is not a problem. The sign of distress to look for is if she would become very lethargic, black beard, not eating and straining to lay but unable. They generally look quite sick if they are eggbound. It is not real common, so try not to worry.

okay great! So the usual glass dancing isnt anything compared to a beardie ready to lay eggs then. sheesh. I just love lizzie so much!!!
