Hi everyone, this is my first post on here.
My beardie's name is Harry. He is around 9 months old and around 15 inches from snout to tail.
For an enclosure, I have a 40-gallon breeder tank from Zilla. Lighting is a 24-inch ReptiSun 10.0, a 100w basking light from Zoo Med, and a 100w CHE. He is on reptile carpet and is fed greens, roaches, superworms, and hornworms.
So here in Vermont it has been getting really cold, and I am struggling on getting my basking temp up for my little guy. Right now the temps are around 79 on the cold side and 88 on the hot side, the highest i have seen his basking rock get was around 99. I am measuring with a probe and leaving it there for about 45 minutes, checking it every so often. I have his CHE on at night to bring the tank temp up to 70-75. Lately, I have been having to keep on the CHE during the day as well to bring up the temp in his tank. The temps have only been a problem since we moved Harry from his 20-gallon tank to this one around last week. In his old tank, he had all the same lighting, but the heat bulb was a 75w. The temps then were perfect, his basking spot was always around 105 upwards to 110 depending on where he would lay one his basking rocks. I am getting worried because I know it is nowhere near hot enough for him, and I think it is starting to affect his eating. He does not eat nearly as much as he used to. He has always been a lazy eater, but he would eat A LOT. Along with not eating, he isn't pooping well. I keep having to give him baths and I am almost certain its cause he is having trouble digesting his food due to the low temps.
Any help would be amazing. It is only going to get colder here, and I since I am already starting to have trouble with the temps, I don't want it to get worse. Thank you from me and Harry both!!
