Cancer Advise

I'm a beardie mommy and have been diagnosed with Lymphoma. No biggie, super easy to get rid of. I was just wondering if anyone else has gone through something similar? I know I am not to get near the cat litter boxes during Chemo but was wondering about cleaning Sunny's cage? I will want to continue to hold and bond with her also. I will of course ask my Dr, but wanted advise from beardie experts too! Thanks!

Hi there....first of all, I'm sorry to hear about your diagnosis and I wish the very best outcome for you ! It seems like you have a good outlook already, so you have that going for you. I don't have any experience myself but I think that as long as you are very careful and if necessary have other family members do the cleaning [ unless you use disposable gloves ] and use common sense [ no kissing beardie ] then you should be fine. You might want be careful that you don't accidentally get scratched either.

I know some beardie owners bathe their dragons in the kitchen sink [ a big yukky no way in my book] or even the bathroom, be very careful that Sunny would not be using any of your sinks that you use as a toilet.

After holding her be sure to just wash up well.

I agree with, AHBD.

Little story to share, my mother is a breast cancer survivor, she developed it in the late nineties (I must have been no older than five or six so my memory is fuzzy) so we had to get rid of our lizard, Puff (after the magic dragon). I have no recollection of what Puff was though. I just remember he wasn't a Beardie. I was so sad when we had to get rid of him. I can only hope he found a good home.
