I recently bought a colony of dubias. I am keeping them in a 40qt sterilite bin. I am getting a heat mat tomorrow. I was just wondering if it is safe to put a heat mat on the bottom of the container.

I suggest putting the bin up on something just enough to allow airflow under the bin and heat pad to help prevent it from overheating.

Yes, you can use heat mats or heat tape with plastic. However you should also use a thermostat with it. I have lots of bins sitting on top of heat tape. Some have a bit of an air space between them...others don't. A decent thermostat can be bought on Amazon for under $20.

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
