Can you bath too much?

I have a baby beardie who is currently healing from some nips and also shedding for the second time in the last two weeks (which seems a little much to me) but I have been doing baths every night that only last a few minutes. Is it bad to bathe them that much?

Also on another subject, I use calcium powder with d3 everyday but monday and fridays, and on those days (mondays and fridays) I do multivitamin powder... is that ok?

I have another question, If I'm offering fresh collards, bell peps, and other various veggies daily, do I need to be offering the formulated pelleted food as well? He turns his nose up at both, but seems to take more interest in the veggies.

This is my last question.... He ate pretty good the last few days, and then today he wouldn't ? He is shedding, but shouldnt he eat at least a few crickets?

Thanks so much, Im a worried mother.

Shedding can surely effect their appetite. I wouldn't worry there! My boy is 7 months old and he gets a 20 minute soak EVERY day. When he's shedding sometimes he gets 2 soaks.

You're calcium and multivitamin schedule is fine. Calcium w/D3 1 live feeding a day 5x a week and multivitamin dusting 1 live feeding a day 2x a week.

No need for pellets. Live feeders are best especially if you're gut loading the feeders with foods that are good for your beardie as well.

This is a wonderful site for foods to offer daily. It's color coded and shows exactly what NOT to feed your beardie as well:

Have you thought about dubia roaches? They're much healthier than crickets. I didn't see where you're located so I'm not sure if they're legal where you are. They're great staple feeders though :)

Hope that helped! Good luck. Keep us posted!

Yes I do gut load my crickets, I feed the salads I make for my beardie that he doesn't eat to the crickets, so they get the collards and mixed veggies and a potato for water. I would do roaches if I weren't so freaked out by bugs in general, lol its bad, I work at petsmart, when I started I was horrible with catching the crickets, even though I had owned reptiles before, I just cant stand the bugs.... they gross me out. I live in Missouri and my coworkers feed their reptiles dubias but I dont think I could handle it.. plus my roommate isnt a reptile person, she hates the crickets being in the house, I cant imagine how mad she would be if I brought home roaches. Thanks for the fast reply I really appreciate it.

Also another question, I will be going home to visit family then going on a camping trip so I will be gone Thurs-Sun (roughly a hour and half drive) and I have a few options for my beardie...

My mom used to help with my first beardie so she knows the basics. She would watch him, but I would be taking him, and his current 10g tank and light set up. On the hour plus drive.

Hire a coworker to come to my house once a day and feed and bathe and clean. But I would have to give them my electronic key, and gate pass, so I would be without a way into my house.

Or see if that coworker would take him and his cage to her house only 15 mins away.

My roommate who would watch him if he didn't need to eat bugs lol so she isnt an option...

I'm not to sure about what to really do, I'm scared taking him to my moms and back will stress him too much.
Do you have any ideas?

Anytime we have ever traveled we have had a very good friend come to the house. He and his wife would make sure our boy got his 20 minute soak, feed him, and even make sure he got time outside of his viv.

If you can make that happen them that's what I'd do...it IS what I do. If it was a situation where they couldn't make it over each day to care for him...we wouldn't go. We've had to cancel a trip before. It seems like you've got some options.

You should really do what's best for your beardie as you're basically the parent. It's funny how people feel about the dubia. They're quiet, they don't stink, and if kept in the right container can't escape!

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
