Can someone please explain this behavior? [HELP]

The last few weeks I noticed my beardie (Female) has been kicking sand all over the place into piles. She lays on her belly and pushes her hands and and legs back and forth in a swimming motion, moving all the sand away to the bare glass. She will lay there with her eyes repeatidly closing.

Then she will climb all over the glass as if shes trying to get out?

This behavior has just occured over the last few weeks.

Help will be greatly appreciated:)

Hi, I don't have an answer, just a similar problem. My female recently stopped eating but is active like crazy, always wants to get out of the viv. When she's out, she explores every single corner of the house.

I suspect that maybe yours and mine could be looking for a place to lay eggs. I felt round bumps in my female's belly during bathtime, but I am not sure they're eggs (I'm not too familiar with female beardies anatomy). I will try to get a laybox, but everything is frozen solid and covered by a thick layer of snow... Is your sand deep? If she's trying to find a place to lay eggs, I think they need a place where they can dig deep.

We'll see what others have to say!

It does sound like eggs are a possibility. You need to give her a lay box filled with damp sand.

if the behavior continues and the egg laying box doesn't work, get her to a vet to make sure she is not egg bound. Mine wouldn't or couldn't lay her eggs and she had to be spayed and the eggs removed by a vet that specializes in reptiles. They have a LOT of eggs in them (as I saw in the xrays). She is OK now, but no longer produces eggs so it is not a worry.

I gave her a sand box, and she dug and is now laying eggs. How about yours?
I have to go get one, how big were the eggs? And how many? I can't wait for her to way eggs. I'm tickled to death :p

The eggs aren't real big, 1 - 1.5 inches long though they can be bigger. Average number is somewhere between 10-25. Did you breed your female or will the eggs be infertile?

Well, they are fertilized while inside her aren't they?

Mine layed 15 eggs, as Gail said 1 to1.5 in long. For me that was big, considering that she layed 15 and that was all from that one belly! In my case, the eggs are infertile, she had never mated.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
