Don't bother with a heating pad, they can sometimes make your beardie to hot and, especially at night, they won't necessarily know to move as they sense the heat from the top of their heads. Some people use a CHE (ceramic heat emitter) to heat up their tank, but only if it gets below 65 or 70 f. You need a special fixture for the CHE as we found out the hard way. They have a cage type of fixture (one with just wires and holes). We used the same fixture we use for the heat bulb and they went bad in 2 months. We live in a hotter climate, but to let you know, the wattage of bulb you use depends on where in your house the tank is, what the temps in the room around the tank is and so forth. It's really hard to tell you what wattage you need to use. I need a higher wattage in the winter than I do in the summer.

Really? i've seen a few people say thats what they use! :S disregard that then, perhaps a heater in your room?or crank the heat in your house up if you can!

It gets really cold in my house, especially in the winter. I have to use a bulb to keep Tiamat warm at night. It's not a CHE, I know I should get one, I use a black bulb. But I put a little blankie over him so he can't see it.

Because of the problems we had with the CHE, just over one year ago, we use a 75 watt night bulb. We put our girls in their box and, usually, their heads are away from the opening and they don't see the light. It works for us as I don't intend to use a CHE again. If you decide to use the bulb, just figure out a way to cover his eyes so he can't see the light. Goldie still will try to crawl away from me if she's in the living room in the evening, on me with lights on. Usually she wants to find a dark place to sleep but if I put a tshirt over her head (summer time) or (winter time - now) put her between my two shirts so her head is covered she's fine. She didn't used to like this until Rosie accepted it, then she realized she'd be o.k. being covered, now she's so spoiled she gives me a "shame on you" stink eye when I'm holding Rosie and not her.

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
