On craigslist in Delaware someone has 3 male beardies in a 55 gallon tank for $200. I am going to offer $150 and see if he will take it but I can only take one more beardie and even then that pushing it with my husband. Would someone be willing to help pay for the other 2 beardies and take them? They look like regular beardies. I am going to call this morning and see how low he will go on the price. But I can not let them live like that when they are right around the corner.

I am picking them up on saturday. $175 for all 3 plus the 55 gallon tank. They are year and half old. Can someone tell me is it better to separate into a smaller tank 30long then keep them together. I have one female adult in a 75 gallon tank I plan on keeping on of the males but was going to see if I could house in with my female until i can find a suitable home for the other 2. I will have the 55 gallon the guy in giving me and then the I have a 30 gallon long. I know this is not suitable for to long but I want to get these guys separated. Any thoughts?

You are absolutely wonderful for taking them under your wing! I wish I could offer to help you with them, but alas, I cannot. :(

I would separate them. I would not house one with your female at all, in the off chance it immediately tries to claim dominance/tries to breed with/tries to fight with her. This would cause unneeded stress for her and I just wouldn't take the risk, personally.

You could split the 55 gallon tank they came in in half and house two of them that way, one in each half. Make sure they have exposure to UVB and a heat source.

Then if you'd like, you could split your other 75 gallon tank in half and house another one that way. Your female might be grumpy about it, but I think it would be the best-case scenario until you could figure out what you're going to do from there. They should be fine being housed that way for up to several months if needbe, so long as they all have UVB exposure and a heat source.

You can use either cardboard or a thick poster board to separate the tanks, just make sure it's cut an inch or two shorter than the top of the tank itself.

Hope this helps!

I got the beardies today. They are all so skinny. One is really bad. I separated them all. I split the 55 gallon tank with a piece of placy glass. I put the really skinny one in a 30 gallon. They are all used to being held but had not clue what a bath was. The tank had sand which I removed and put in tiles. The sand was rock hard in some places. :banghead: I know I can not keep them all so I am going to do my best to find a suitable home. I am going to list the biggest one I have on craigslist. I used my savings to resucue these guys. I now have to come up with a another UVB bulb because of the separate tank. If anyone is willing to donate a UVB bulb to help me out that would be great. I will be switching lights back and forth for now.

Should I cover the glass in between the 2 dragon so they can not see each other? THanks

I would not post on Craigslist, because of the risk of the beardie going to another bad home. Why not post on BD.org's For Sale or For Free forums? This way they go to good homes with people who KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING.

Just a suggestion.

I am being very picky who get them on craigslist. Main reason I need to make back some of the money I put into them. My husband just got laid off. I need at least $60 from the biggest guy so I can order the crickets and meals worms online. I would love to keep them all but it not possible and I need to get weight on smallest one. he will eat the salads but will not touch any of the live things and I thinks its from being in the same tank as the others. I am hand feeding him right now. I bit off more then I could chew on this one but I could not stand the way they were living.

Not to sound rude or anything, because honestly I'm not trying to be, but mealworms aren't recommended for beardies, especially not rescues, because they're low in meat/fat/whatever you want to call it, and have very hard shells. This means little nutrition and a high impaction risk.

Crickets are fine, as are silkworms, phoenix worms, and hornworms. Waxworms are good for helping your beardies gain weight, as long as you don't give more than 2 a day to adults (a bit TOO high in fat!).

Good luck! Hope your husband gets a new job. My stepfather just went through the same thing.... it's tough! But soon he had job offers pouring in, and he's still getting them, even after he accepted a job. Never give up hope!!!

I have not heard anything about regular meal worms just supers which I don't give. I normally do wax worms but the store close to me have been out lately. I am waiting till friday to place my big order.

We have named all of them now Flames, Jock and Bobble head. Bobble head is the skinnest one of them all and so far will not eat anything but green. So I have been force feeding him worms. I am going to call the vet in the morning. to do a fecal sample.

I would not risk the mealworms AT ALL, especially because they are rescues. High impaction risk is not something to be taken lightly, especially when you don't know what their insides are like, and how they'll react to having something hard-shelled in their stomach.

Like I said, no knowledgeable person on this site is going to recommend mealworms for your beardies, so it would be wise to stay away from them.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
