My beardie loooves canned crickets! even more than live crickets. Hes about 6 or 7 months old now and pretty big. Ive been feeding him small crickets because im still not sure if hes big enough for grasshopers or large crickets since everytime i try to put the cricket between his eyes to see if hes big enough he always eats it b4 i can tell. Ive fed hm large crickets and hes been fine but is he big enough? and also maybe it doesnt matter because here so soft from the juices because if theres a big cricket and he bites it it goes in half then he eats the other half with no visible problems. So does this mean i can feed him large canned crickets?

Hello :). Canned crickets really aren't good for them. They are missing a lot of nutrients of live ones. I would only feed crickets that are the size of the space between there eyes. It can cause impcation otherwise.

If he's been eating large crickets already, then he can probably take the canned larges no problem. They're cooked, so they're softer and easier for them to digest than the live ones.

Big fan of canned insects and mine loves them too, goes nuts just smelling them. He is active, healthy appetite and growing like crazy. Flukers has some canned Grasshoppers which are actually Locust and seem to big for a juvenile, but adults will be ok with them. Unused insects can be frozen and thawed for later use. It surely is a good source of protein and if the dragon is generally offered nutritious greens, vegetables and fruit, am sure it is alright. However, nothing beats watching my dragon chase live prey :), gets him going.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
