Bandit, my bearded dragon is only a month old and is about 8 inches and just started his second shed. He eats around 20-30 small crickets a day. It's may 29 and sometime in July I'm taking a week long time to Florida and I was wondering if it's safe to take him with me. The trip is about 3-4 hours long and I would get someone to watch him for me but there's so many things that could go wrong that I don't really know if I trust anyone else to take care of him for that long. I don't know how much bigger he will get by July but I was wondering if it's safe to take him down to the beach and keep him on a towel and have him on a leash so he can get his UVB (I won't leave him alone when I go into the water I'll get someone who is going with me to watch and hold him if I wanna get in the water) bc I don't wanna risk breaking his bulb on the ride there. Basically I was just wondering if he would be ok if I leave his UVB light at home and just bring his basking light and take him out as much as I can while on vacation so he can still get his UVB

It's a bit tougher since he's so young. Ideally I'd probably train someone to take care of him at home at that age but if you bring him with you, I would get a decent carrier for him to be in. He can get his UVB from the sunlight but I'd bring a clamp lamp or dome light that you can rig up for a basking light. A pop up play pen or big plastic tub would work well for temporary travel housing. You'll want to bring bugs for food (this is easier with an adult dragon because they eat mainly veges). A tub of black soldier fly larvae should do the trick. I wouldn't bring him on the beach without an enclosure. This is partly to protect him and partly to give him a shady place to retreat from the sun if he wishes. Something like this would probably work well https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00EW2WHMQ/

Too dangerous to take him to the beach, seagulls WILL take him and rip him apart .

He's a bearded dragon hatchling not a puppydog , the experience will not be enjoyable for him but very scary and stressful, leave beardie at home where he will feel safe and secure..

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
