Can I put a CHE in this?

I'd like to get a ceramic heat emitter for Salvador. I happen to have an Exo-terra Compact Top Canopy laying around (the smallest one, single bulb), and was wondering if I can put the CHE in it; provided the wattage and voltage are on par. I checked to see if it was E27 compatible but, couldn't find a solid answer.

Thanks

if the socket is horizontal i would be concerned with the amount of heat the thing would be putting off directly onto the unit itself... never tried it though and dont have the stuff to experiment with so as long as the bulb fits and does not touch the unit itself it may be fine, as long as the side which the bulb will be facing is shielded.

The socket is indeed horizontal, this was my main concern. Though it has reflectors, I'm still concerned with the radius of the CHE and if a housing traditionally meant for a fluorescent bulb could handle the heat capacity required for a CHE. I have ordered the CHE now so, I think I'm going to try it for increasing lengths of time, closely monitored and see how it goes. Thanks.

i think those have a ceramic base just with a metal sleeve over them, probably wrong though haha

You are correct actually, it does have a ceramic base with a metal sleeve.

as far as the socket goes it should be fine, just keep an eye out for anything melting on the rest of the fixture. good luck and hope she works for ya!

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
