Ok, for those of you who don't know, my Sydney is a special beardie...she has MBD and a broke back as well as 2-3 broke spots at the base of her tail...Can I help her when she is shedding? She is very lazy, that's just her, not a health issue. She has trouble moving around with her hind end. Right now, her back and stomach looks like she is 95 years old just sagging the dead skin. Not to mention, she poos in the water and she now stinks. I need to get the dead skin off. Is it safe for me to gently peel the skin off slowly? Obviously, I know not to pull when it is still fully attached. I usually help her with the skin under her neck folds and around her mouth to make sure she doesn't end up with dead skin reattaching and possibly causing problems. I do this after she finishes shedding. But it's been different this time. She's been trying to shed for over a week (skin has been hanging for that long) She's also been staying in her water dish all week. Even to sleep. Sorry about the grammer, my mind is rambling right now :p Thanks for any help!

Hello,

Well, considering the circumstances, I think it would be fine to "help" her shed. You are an experienced keeper so I realize you know how to determine whether or not the skin is adhered to the layer underneath or not. So just use your best judegement when proceeding to help her shed in the areas that she needs assistance with.
Soaking her should help soften the skin up better so some could slough off naturally as well. :D
How is she doing now? Does she eat pretty well?

She's been doing great, getting very fat...which unforfortunatly accentuates her hump ALOT. Do you think it is normal for the area after the hump to remain kinda small. From her hips to her head, she's getting bigger. But hips and down, she's real thin. I was just wondering if that could just be a little atophy from not using her hind end very much. I try to do a little physical therapy in the water with her on occasion, but she really doesn't like it.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
