I've mentioned before that one of Cam's back legs is kind of messed up. It has a mark on it that I now believe to be a poorly healed bite from her former cagemate. She also can't straighten it past 90 degrees. It's looking really weird these days and I just don't know what to make of it. The vet has seen it many times and says it is not infected or necrotic. He's never seen anything like it. The scales are malformed, and some are black while others are a weird translucent colour. It almost looks like there is a scab on the back of her leg. I wish she would shed the skin on the leg so I could see what would happen, but she shows no signs of shedding anywhere on her body yet. Any thoughts on what's going on here would be greatly appreciated!

I'm not the best person to be telling advice but my beardy got bitten and it looked like that but it was swollen too. He got antibiotics from the vet and 3 sheds after it looks better. Maybe if she ever sheds it may look better but the on second pic it doesn't look too great. My vet said that BD's take ages to heal too, like much longer than anything else.

If it was a bite, it would have happened quite some time ago - at least a year. I hope it will look better if she ever sheds there!

Not that this will help but it surely won't hurt. If you have some pure Aloe Vera try putting some on the effected area for a few days. I had a dragon that had an unusual spot, I actually think he got to close to a basking lamp and possibly got burned. I put some Aloe Vera on it and it really seemed to help it. His scales in that spot had some of the same coloring and were clearly damaged.

I have some pure aloe vera at home. I'll try it - it certainly can't hurt, as you say. Aloe is good for a lot of things. Thanks! :D

By looking at the back of her leg, I'm guessing that her leg wound was quite severe when it happened and because it was never taken care of, the muscles/scales probably healed with scar tissue underneath them, thus her inability to straighten the leg. There could even be nerve damage, but not severe enough to show up in tests.

If it doesn't bother her while walking or she doesn't seem to be in pain, or the 'dead' scales aren't spreading, I wouldn't worry too much. Just keep an eye on it during the next shed.

*hugs*

The discolouration isn't spreading, and she can use the leg to push herself along. I don't think she'll ever be able to walk on all fours though. :( My poor little baby. When I think of what she went through before I got her, it makes me ill.

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
