Calcium D3 with T5 Bulb

Hey guys so Im gonna be picking up my 10inch juvenile beardie in a couple of days and I have everything setup pretty good I think, he's on tile and ive tried to provide good stimulation in the enclosure.

Right now Im using a T5 10.0 HO bulb in a HO hood on top of the screen in a 40gall breeder and a 45watt phillips halogen. So I was just gonna ask if 106F is a perfect basking spot for a juvenile? He has a few ways to get up to the spot so he can adjust regulation. Also if I am using the 10.0 T5 ReptiSun then I only need to dust with D3 3 times a week right and then use calcium without D3 the rest of the week?

yep sounds good ---- the basking spots sounds like are a gradient so he can pick where he wants to sit? If so that is real good gives him a choice

Yeah that schedule sounds fine.

106 is a good temp for a juvie just make sure your cool side is cool enough

How close is the t5 to the basking surface?

Thanks I was more concerned with the D3, the t5 is roughly 12in from basking surface and cool side is 79-80F

Yep he's got about 2 or 3 ways up and a few spots I made abit lower so he can use different ones, I think he should be OK, Ill probably be posting his whole setup on the forum once he's in and I will get peoples opinions on it.

Personally I'd probably just use the d3 every time. At 12 inches away + on top of the mesh it's going to be comparable to a t8 bulb in perfect position.

That's why I asked distance, so I could give you a better response to the supplement question

If you are dusting lightly like you should, there really isnt so much d3 in the supplement to cause any issues.

Ok great thanks, the breeder that I bought from actually suggested I use d3 everyday too so I will do that, I got the t5 HO because I didnt want to deal with hanging it inside, so youre right the screen is probably making it comparable to a t8 at that height.
