Calcium and Vitamins

Hey guys!
So I got my little Pascal about 2.5 weeks ago. He is starting his second shed (woot woot). Anyway, I have been told they need calcium, yet I don’t know how much they need. I spray his salads with a liquid form I got and the live crickets that he eats 2-3 times a day. I feed the crickets a calcium enriched food and then the calcium enriched water glob things. Am I doing just enough or too much? Also, should I purchase a vitamin/mineral supplement? The ones I have looked at also contain calcium...so I don’t want to over do it or under do it. Any info would be lovely! Thanks to all who reply!

Hello,

Those are great questions. You can overdo the calcium, absolutely.
For a baby & juvenile, you can give calcium 5 times per week, so just once per day. You
can use calcium with D3 1-2 times weekly instead of regular calcium, if needed.
Vitamins are only needed 1-2 times per week, max.
Which UVB light are you using?

So if I’m feeding him crickets that eat calcium enriched food and water, I don’t need to worry about dusting/spraying them?

I have the Zilla Desert Series UVB lamp, but I just posted another question about that in another area! It would be greatly appreciated if you looked at that one also because it has a few more questions! I’m switching his light to a Reptisun 10.0 T5 HO UVB tube light with a hood, but that won’t arrive until Tuesday.

Well, not necessarily. Even though the insects are loaded, he does still need calcium
supplemented because he is growing so rapidly right now. Just once a day dusting
is good as long as it is a decent amount that he eats of it.
Terrific, I'll go take a look at your other thread too on lighting. I am glad you are
changing to the Reptisun 10 T5, that is a much higher quality UVB light than the Zilla
is.
