calcium addiction?! :P

Igor will hardly touch crickets that arent dusted. he will if i dish out "tough love" and only give him regular ones. im just concerned hell OD on calcium. one thing my dad mentioned, it could be a sight thing, since calcium dusted ones are easier to see (he has sand-colored carpet). but then i saw Igor, he had 2 crix headed for him, one dusted one not, and i dont think i have to tell you which one he chose lol. any suggestions, comments?

so far ive only tried silkworms (which he hated). hes also pretty small still (7.5")so i cant give him anything to big. my concern is that when he gets older and doesnt need as much calcium i dont want him to turn stuff down cuz its not dusted. i dont think its an issue of feeder preference (in respect to the crix), so much as whether or not is had calcium on it

i suggest you start training him to eat with out the cal it sucks but it's for his own health you know what i mean?

but personally i see it like this,i have greens in my tank all day it has tons of cal,and people say let your dragon eat as much greens as they want,so wouldn't that not be safe if they overdosed cal from greens?lol

i suppose thats possible lol. ill just have to toughen up on him when he gets older. it was just odd but funny that when those 2 crix were walkin towards him, he chose the dusted one. i was like "seriously, Igor?!" lol. my old dragon, Pete was the other way around and didnt like calcium so i found other ways to spike his food. i guess that kind of plays in to it too. i wanted to make sure he gets the calcium he needs, but didnt expect him to go crazy for it lol

mines don't like that blue bottle for some rsn lol.but the pink one he would eat and some times wont even touch em

You are lucky, Mojo won't eat dusted bugs, but thinks the powder makes great salad topper LOL.

how do u dust the greens?just mix it up?and how much do u add,i might start doing that with the blue bottle twice a week

lol its hilarious how they each have their own preferences. Igor doesnt like the multi-vit as much. hell eat it, but doesnt go bonkers for it, like calcium. hes not very good bout being hand fed, either. which, again, is opposite from the other dragon i had (go figure)

What I do now is mix bok choy in with my greens twice a week it has a1 in it so that works

Hmm how much do I mix in... I haven't measured it, I'd say less than 1/8 tsp, but should be enough for her needs. She is doing wonderfully. I do calcium 3 days then vitamins 1 day, then repeat.
