Cage setup

Hey everyone I've had my beardie for about 2 months now and we are currently battling coccidia and I wanted to get some suggestion on what to change in her environment.

I have a 100 watt powersun MVB
Top left corner is a 75 watt basking - I need to get a 50 watt..
And the other light is just visible light


What do you all think?

Looks really hot lol. Really though what are basking temps? I thought the MVB bulbs were heat and uvb, so why another basking bulb?
Going with reptisun 10.0 florescent with a $10 fixture from walmart and basking light is they way to go imo, much easier to control temps.

Tried the reptisun but it actually caused her eye problems. And the reason for 2 bulbs is the 100 watt power sun only warms it up to about 95 degrees with the minimal distance. So i raised the powersun to 14" and added 50 watt bulb. The basking temps are at 106-107.

Also the cage is only 12" high so I don't have a lot of room to work with lol.

I would probably switch to either a regular 40g or the Exo-Terra 40g because that's what she'll need when she gets older.
As for lights, that's way too many heat lights. You only need a basking bulb if you use the the reptisun 10.0.
Once you get the 40g tank which will be 16-18" tall it will also make the branch more climbable.

Like I said previously she didn't like the reptisun 10.0 she was having severe eye problems with it.

Yeah, I'm not saying you switch to it. I'm saying that that's the kind of UVB that needs the heat and the power sun doesn't. Good luck with everything =)

The heat light and UVB make her temps at 107 roughly? Is that okay?

Really? I imagined that the Power Sun would be so much stronger. Yup, 107 is good for the hot side. I didn't realize it wasn't that powerful with the heat. sorry bout that.

Yeah for me to get above 100 degrees with the powersun alone it has to be like 8-10 inches away and minimum is 12 inches.

Nice, I have porcelain right now, but on Black Friday (far away) I plan on buying the Exo-Terra 36x18x18. Mine are already both in 40, but I like the option of opening from the front in stead and Pet Smart has it for $100 then. So I plan on buying slate and grouting it in because it's too much of a hassle to move them out so I might as well just finish the job :lol:

Doesn't everything need to be cleaned and the coccidia killed on a regular basis until the numbers are under control? I'd remove anything that isn't easy to remove parasites from, there are special anti parasitic cleaners to use. If you look on this forum, viewforum.php?f=61 there should be plenty of information for you, as well as answers to your questions. Maybe ask one of the moderators to move this post there for you, that way you can get the help you need to get rid of the coccidia.

Also I may have missed someone else mentioning it. But you loose over 50% of the uvb when the light passes through a screen.
