Burping/Mouth opening after eating?

I got a young bearded dragon about 5" long. After every time he swallows something, his throat kind of puffs up, then he opens his mouth and releases the air. It looks kind of like burping, which I've seen dragons do before, but I didn't think they did it THIS often. I made sure to give him small crickets in case he was choking on the size or something. but even for tiny ones the size of his eyeball, he opens his mouth after he swallows. Note that I don't think he's too hot - he doesn't leave his mouth hanging open like he's overheated. His mouth stays closed normally.

Does this sound like a problem at all?

Sorry to revive this old thread but dint want to start a new one on the same topic. I am fairly new to beardies and mine has started to do this after he eats as well. Is this normal? I am a bit paranoid that it might be an URI or something. To the original poster, has your beardie continued doing this and how is he in general?

Also wanted to add he is about 3 months old and eats like a pig! Lol some times I worry he eats too much so apetite is definitely good. Sometimes I think it's like he is burping. Could he have some kind of acid reflux or digestive issu?

Burping and beard flaring after eating is pretty normal.

Hey there. Yep, my beardie still does this sometimes. She (I found out "he" is actually a "she") stuffs her face, puffs up, and burps! Sometimes it looks like she is going to throw up, but she never has. Cooper knows what he's talking about so yeah, I guess it's normal!
