building a fake rock background need help

hello
i have read the instructions on here of how to build the fake rock background many a times
however i cannot find the PVA or NON TOXIC SEALER ANYWHERE!!
ive tried handyman, lowes, home depot ect..
some have said to use a water base low odor sealer and allow it to sit outside a week before installing it
would this be ok
also im using tile grout but could i use a thin final layer of cement or mortor for added sturdiness?

PVA is nothing more than wood glue, a non-toxic one would be Elmer's Carpenter's Glue

I use the same thing for making wargames terrain, the theories are the same... water it down 50/50 glue to water and brush it on in a couple layers.

As for using a sealer, Polycrylic would be your most durable finish, just lte it air out for about 48 hours to dry and fume out.

the elmers wood glue is brownish tan in color does it dry clear
and can i use that as my sealer
thats what one DIY told me
as for the polycrylic is that the name would a water based sealer say that on it??

The Elmer's does dry clear.

you could use the PVA as a sealant with enough layers, but over time it will turn yellow again.

Polycrylic is the name of the sealant made by Minwax. It is waterbase but once dry is proof against kids(4-46), food, metal minatures, and lots of dice rolling

When buying the wood glue, make sure it's indoor/outdoor, the indoor only doesn't dry waterproof.

yes will do
where can i get the sealer at? any special store or would lowes carry it
i will get the pics up after i finish
the grout is real powdery after dry is this normal its only the second thin coat?

the grout is normal, no worries there.

Lowes, Home Depot, even WalMart has the polycrylic
