Buddy and Oz (Iguana) are sep. I left for 40 minutes I returned and Oz is missing (no HUGE surprise but none the less.)

Buddy is Black-bearding (He doesn't usually this much) His stomach is large with left side hard/swollen

I carried him to tub to relieve himself while I inspect the area for missing Oz...Buddy then has Diarrhea all over me (First time ever)

Chewed up mealworms greens some red stuff at first though peppers or tomatoes perhaps it was blood.

I think Buddy 18 +/- " ate Oz and I still can't believe this...Oz is FAST and hides well Plus I have secured to what I THOUGHT while in their temp living habitats could not get to either no matter what. Buddy never tried to before.

Is there any home treatment to save Buddy if this is the case? Oz is/was 14.5 inches and I'm in tears so please scold later if you want just how can I salvage Buddy now?

the 24 hour vet in RI I can't afford...ironically....pet insurance was to be mailed in monday for all three.

Again any tips/idea for homecare

Reply here or Text me 4015956304

Thank you in advance!

I hope that Oz is just hiding. Is Buddy's belly still really full? I don't know anything to do but to take him to a vet if he looks like he is in distress.. If he did eat Oz, there is nothing anyone on here can do for him.. he will need a vet..

Here is an update I placed w/ another site.

one thing to add...I searched high and low for any type of "Mess" none to be seen... Is this possible, or could Oz of gone in head first (If He did eat oz) Oz is soooo damn fast though, always out of reach ...WTH...

**

I don't know how they got to each other at all.... I'm speechless. (Again I will address that part later...I'm still PRAYING that OZ did not get eaten by Buddy but that is my best lead given the things I"m seeing) Also, as above stated a vet isn't an option at this moment. I called 24 hour, they said OK to wait unless I see blood in stool and I can't confirm or deny...buddy is still active moving no loss of legs yet, not lethargic but its only 2 hours post "eating" which I think this was....I am in shock I think quite literally and have been teared up and sick over this.

He did have red peppers with some tomatoes. I thought that is what it was but I'm guessing it may have been blood tinged...perhaps force of diarrhea or maybe I'm wrong and it was the food and he was stressed...but I haven't seen him THAT stressed in a long time!

but here are two more photos to see his stomach ....

I know he is laying and it is hard, but I don't want to handle him much unless otherwise told.

Rectum area plus swollen gut

Ouch I hope everything works out for you. I've heard of beardies eating anoles but never anything that large. Hopefully he just has a full gut and gets it digested soon enough. I would watch him very closely. Is he looking stressed?

No longer looking stressed, alert, very large belly still.

Even w/ BD's eating Anoles wouldn't you see some evidence of it on face...enclosure something somewhere.... Him at 18" and Oz at 14.5 " I'm at a loss... Buddy's face is clean, I don't see scratches on wood, residue of blood on claws when picked up or anywhere in enclosure or in tub when I put him in there.

Someone asked me to make sure Buddy is a HE and not a gravid SHE.

I'm going to photo that and other than that someone else asked how many mealworms were eaten past week... 30?40? yesterday, 15 w/ 3 waxworms plus his usual salad which has been quite large.

other part gets me OZ IS FAST very very fast, they aren't housed together so besides trying to figure that part out...the divider between them is OSB because we are constructing an adult sized home... so this split floor for Buddy/Oz was temp....there was no known way to move about or see nevermind get through. If this is the case I'm proved wrong.

Just the other day it took 40 minutes to eat a long piece of collar greens he eats slow w/ his salad. I was gone 40 minutes...how can all 14.5" be devoured like that if this is that??

I honestly kind of doubt that's what happened. That belly does not look like a 14.5 inch iguana could fit in there but I could be wrong. One thing I would recommend with any tummy trouble is to keep him warm tonight. Do you have a rice sock he could sit on or a heating pad that could be put on a low setting? Or even hand warmers? Make sure you put a blanket in between him and any of these (and I wouldn't run the heat pad while you are asleep of course).

I also highly doubt he ate Oz.. at 18" long there is no way with one gulp and not chewing he could eat a 14.5" iguana. Now if you said it was a baby at 5" or so, I wouldn't doubt it.. but I would think you would find some remains of Oz or some evidence of it.. Is there a way Oz could have gotten out of the cage somehow? Maybe he is hiding somewhere and you just can't find him because he's sleeping, and hopefully he will appear in the morning.. Just keep a watchful eye on Buddy, and let us know what happens!

I doubt same thing, I'm alone tonight my better half is working the overnight. So it is just the kids and I.

It is just to coincidental ..

There is a heating pad under the slate tile. That is on, there is a rock that keeps heat w/ a towel on it. He is most relaxed when sleeping on me. Should I get a sock full of rice and heat it up...or pop a few hand warmers in that??

BRB I am attempting to photo/video the stomach better so you can have a better view of what I am seeing it is just so hard since I'm sitting here solo w/ kinda 2 emergencies...Where is Oz is oz in there and you can compare yesterday's length photo w/ todays now.

This is now:

Well, I really hope you find Oz.. If Buddy had diaherra maybe something just upset her stomach.. At least something came out, so she's not impacted as of right now.

I don't see how he would down it without any trace. I would check long and hard around the house for a loose iggy!

I highly doubt he ate the iguana. Most cases of the dragons eating other animals, they are very small, like hatchling size. And iguanas are hardly helpless. Quite frankly, I think an iguana would probably win in a fight vs a bd.

I'll leave the bd problems to more knowledgeable people. But I can give you some ideas on where to look for your iguana. Actually while refreshing my memory on iguana behaviors I found this page:

Back in the bath massaging abdomen...it feels like I feel Oz in there. Other token I've never really massaged Buddy like this before...Here was a photo yesterday of Oz so you can get an idea of body length/tail length.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
