LuvMyHerps sounds very much like Izzy is getting ready to brumate. You want to give him a really good soaking to make sure hydration is up before he goes out. Some beardies will just doze where others will go out for the count like PVT Blaze he has been asleep for 2 weeks solid already only waking once when I bathed him and went right back to sleep.
I thought that's what he is trying to do...
Is it a good idea to wake them(how often) to bathe and try to feed them? This is my first beardie brumation :?

Could you elaborate on your question a little more as I'm not quite sure what your asking? :)
I thinking you might be asking about how bad lighting affects the eyes????

I normally take them out and bath them about once a week to make sure they stay hydrated especially sense we either have a fire in the woodburning stove or the heater on which drys out the air more than in the Summer months. See in the wild I'm sure they would get damp and absorb moisture thru their vents which in captivity they wouldn't. I only offer food to the beardies that don't sleep heavily as with the ones that do sleep heavily I wouldn't want them to go back to sleep with any food in their stomachs that would rot. Checker's and PVT Blaze are my heaviest sleepers they don't even wake when I bath them usually. I remember just how scary it was with Checker's first brumation as he sleeps for months on end an I am constantly checking to make sure he is still breathing. Which by the way when they are brumating it is very little aspirations so its hard to tell. But being this is your first brumation you are going to have to play it by ear on whether to feed or not. If bathing gets Izzy to wake and show signs of activity then it is most likely safe to offer food. If he falls back to sleep before pooping out what he ate then you are going to want to bath him the next day to try to empty him.
If they are not showing any signs of activity you won't need to worry about food as they aren't using any energy to burn calories so weight loss will not be an issue.

Thank you so much Barbara for all of your input....I am a little nervous about the whole brumation thing...I think as Mommys we always worry "is it really brumation or is something else going on?" I will keep a very close eye on him. One more question...will they all brumate around the same time? or do they each do their own thing?

Wouldn't it be nice if they all brumated the same?
Unfortunatly all 9 of my adults well I should say 8 as Bender should have his first this year are different. A couple of them don't really go out they are just groggy like for a few weeks to months and don't eat much. Even Zak-n-Wheezie brumate differently and they share the same body. Zak goes to sleep about a week ahead of Wheezie which makes life a bit interesting when one head is awake and wanting to bask and eat and the other is trying to sleep. I have Itty Bitty and PVT Blaze out right now. An Itty Bitty has been trying to brumate for several weeks already she got up ate, pooped, and went back to sleep. PVT Blaze like I said earlier has been out cold for 2 weeks. Some will brumate earlier than others as in the time of year as well as their age. Checker's and PVT Blaze both brumated under 8 months of age the first time. Where most of the others didn't until about 12 months. Itty Bitty is 3 and this is her first brumation. Checker's probably won't be out for the count until next month he brumates during the coldest part of the winter whereas the two I already spoke of are already. Ms. Piggy is napping more and eating less but doesn't seem as if she is quite ready same goes for RD. Where Ms. Tiggs is showing no signs yet of brumation. She is still acting like it's the middle of Summer.

Bowser, my boy, is acting strangely lately too.. a friend of mine who is more experienced with beardies than me said i shouldnt worry as its just brumation.. he's acting lazy, inactive, not pooping.

The only thing i would say is that he seems to be eating, not normally, maybe just abit less than normal but he still seems to be eating more than what you guys beardies are, well from what im reading here anyway.

I Think he might have parasites to be honest..

ZombieAndy you should get Bowser a fecal test so you can have him clear of any parasites before he decides to brumate.

Have you tried putting him in a warm bath? That will usually get the bowels moving

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
