It's very, very rare that he would actually be brumating at 7 months old. It happens, but it's not at all common, and they typically don't eat a bunch of food right before doing it either...Are you leaving both his
UVB light and Basking Light on like normal for him? If not, please do, don't turn them off or leave them on for a shorter photoperiod, just keep them both on every day for at least 13 hours as normally...
Just to ensure that something else isn't going on here (especially since he just ate a bunch of Superworms before doing this, which by the way he's a bit young to be eating safely in the first place), can you please post a photo of his entire tank showing how you have his lights set-up? Also, do you know how long he is from the tip of his snout to the end of his tail? Do you weigh him on a regular basis? If not, I highly suggest spending $15 on a digital kitchen scale, because if he starts losing weight throughout this then something is wrong...
What size tank does he have?
What substrate do you have in the bottom of his tank?
EXACTLY what
UVB light do you have (brand, wattage, type)? THIS IS PRINTED RIGHT ON THE LIGHT ITSELF IF YOU DON'T KNOW THE SPECIFICS...
How old is the
UVB light?
Do you have the
UVB light sitting on top of the mesh lid?
How far, in inches, is the
UVB light from his basking spot/platform?
What type of thermometer(s) do you use to measure his temperature zones?
What is the Cool Side Air/Ambient, the Hot Side Air/Ambient, and the Basking Spot SURFACE Temperatures inside his tank?
What type of Basking Bulb do you use (wattage, color of light emitted, and is it a regular compact bulb or a coil/spiral bulb)?
How many hours each day do you leave both his
UVB light and his Basking Bulb on for?
What is his regular, daily diet?
How often do you give him a Calcium powder? A Multivitamin powder?
****If you can post the photo and then answer these questions, we can make sure that nothing else is going on here that's causing him to want to hide from his lights and/or sleep. At 7 months old it's extremely important to work out any husbandry and/or health issues now, as he has a big growth spurt coming up, and this could potentially interfere with that.
